Does anyone have any experience of running a FT500 that has had the balancer shafts removed but has had the crank re balanced in an attempt to compensate?

I have not heard of this being done, but I hope you receive an experienced reply. I'm curious about this also.
The XR500/600 seems to run pretty good. I bet that a call to "XR's Only" might get you an answer.

Good luck
