easy on/off centerstand adapter
« on: June 22, 2014, 09:47:07 pm »
I only use centerstands for maintenance. On my CB750, I can just install the pivot pin from the left side, but on the FT there isn't enough clearance on either side to install or remove the pin without partially removing the exhaust.
I cut two 3 1/8" long pieces of 3/4" round stock, and ground slight bevels on the ends to make them easier to get started. To install the stand, slide one piece into the stand, and fit it up into the mounts on the frame, then insert the second piece from the left side, pushing the first piece through the mount on the right side.

Very clever! 8)

I'll have to keep this in mind when I remove the center stand from my hybrid bike.

Thanks
J.

BTW, the centerstand, complete with pivot tube and spring, weighs a couple of grams over 4 lbs....

That's good info, thanks. I'm kinda bummed out I have the footie rest for the center stand welded to my muffler now.
