New Ascot Owner
« on: November 04, 2014, 02:37:41 pm »
Hi all.  New Ascot VT500FT owner here.  Glad to see I'm not the only one.  Have been a long time member of the Yahoo Honda 900C forum and it has helped me immensely.  My Ascot was delivered mostly in boxes but the engine was in the frame. Started pulling pieces out of the boxes and holding them up to figure out where everything went when I finally realized something was amiss.  Can you see it?

Welcome. At a casual glance it looks like there are several things missing. Fuel tank, throttle cables, coil cover, intake tract to air-box... What are you looking at?

Never seen a VT Ascot with a red frame before. What color is the tank & body panels?

Good luck
J.

Tank and body panels are black, kind of a reverse colour scheme of the 83 red Ascot (it needs repainting though, it's a mess).  It's not what's missing I'm talking about, it's what's wrong!  It's kind of funny really but it had me scratching my head when I was figuring how to route the throttle cables.

You guessed it.  Took me a while to realize it not being familiar with the VT500.

Hopefully nothing has fallen down inside. By any chance do you have a borescope, or know where to borrow one? I think I'd be inclined to look down inside the intake ports & cylinders if you can figure out a way. The black plastic intake plenum can be tricky to install sometimes. It kind of rotates & downward into position onto the carbs from the top left of the bike.

Good luck
J.
