I don't think they are interchangeable.

There are several big bore kits available from "XR's Only" http://www.xrsonly.com & also check with Mark at "ThumperStuff" http://www.thumperstuff.com

I've heard that the big bore kits will make the engine rev up a bit slower due to the weight of the larger piston. I think many of the folks who race the Ascot stay with as close to the stock bore as possible & raise the compression instead. Now the engine is more responsive & revs quicker. An aftermarket heavy duty connecting rod is usually a smart addition.

Here are a couple of links on modifying the FT Ascot.

The Honda XL/XR500 & the FT Ascot engines do have some interchange, but only amongst the versions from the same era. I think the 600cc engines have a different cylinder & head design.

Good luck

Why are you selecting the Ascot engine? They only produce about 26 horsepower in original tune.

There may be better engines to use for your project.

Good luck

The emoticons (I think that's what they are called) or icons/faces are located right above the window where you type in a post or reply. Wherever you leave the cursor that shows where you are in a sentence, a emoticon/face will appear after you click on one from the selection above. It won't look exactly like the emoticon/face until after you hit either Preview or Post. There is a Testing section at the bottom of the forum where you can make test posts, learn how to post pictures, etc, and not have to worry about goofing up.

Good luck
