heated jacket?

Does anyone know if the ascot can generate enough power to run a heated jacket or vest? Its getting cold and the local shop has a few on sale but I don't want to strain my electrical. If anyone has any information that would be great.

There are heated jackets that utilize batteries for the power source.
There are a few out there, I can't remember any mfgrs names, except Milwaukee, and that might not be the best for riding.

Unfortunately I do not know the answer to your question. The FT Ascot has a dual electrical system. There is some more information in the following links:

Another option may be the "Freeze Out" gear by Cycle Gear. I've used this underwear in 20+ degree temperatures. Thanks for the info guys!
The shop owner said that the bike should be powerful enough to run a vest, but I'm just wondering if he's full of it trying to get me to spend some money. I'm going to do some more research and do some electrical tests later this weekend to see if it'll put out enough juice. I'll let you know what I find.

Quite few of the guys I know have "Icon" gear which has a heated removable linner & battery pack.

I think I would be more interested in a vest with its own power source.

You could use it on other bikes, or activities.

I was at the Seattle Motorcycle Expo on Sunday and I got some really good information! Most battery powered heated vests have just enough juice to work for the riding I'm looking to do so I think I'm going to go that direction. I also was looking into a pair of heated gloves and they say that the battery powered ones aren't worth the trouble. The Ascot single produces just enough power to run a pair of wired gloves so I think that's going to be an investment for me in a month or so.

I bought a parts bike once that had heated grips. They were brass looking strips that taped to the bars & then the grip went over the heating strips. I don't know how well they work though. The only problem that I see with heated gloves & vest is the connecting wires. Obviously the wires will have to be run carefully so they aren't in the way.
