Looking for parts
« on: March 12, 2015, 01:13:57 am »
Im a new Ascot owner in Vancouver Canada and Im looking for parts. At the moment I need a complete  front right turn single assembly, and a headlight assembly for a 82 500 XT. I found this bike in a partial disassembled state and slowly putting it together so any advice or links to drawings will be welcomed.
 Thanks

Welcome to the board & congratulations on finding an Ascot.

I picked up an FT Ascot a while back that needed a new headlight & turn signals. Instead of searching for & waiting for the parts to appear on eBay, I used this round headlight & small blinkers: http://www.speedmotoco.com/product-p/smc.404.mofo.htm
I requested blinkers that have a black body vs. the aluminum looking ones. Here are the rest of the headlights that they offer: http://www.speedmotoco.com/category-s/48.htm

You might also look at EMGO: http://www.emgo.com/index.php/catalogs
If you find an EMGO part that you like, perform a search with the part # on eBay & see if you can find the part nearby to your location.

Bike Bandit offers exploded parts diagrams for several bikes: http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/1982-honda-ascot-500-ft500c/o/m151788

Good luck & please let us know what you find out.

J.

Some if not most or all of us have a book on this bike. I'd be happy to email or possibly post them up here, thinking email would be easier though.

I haven't had much luck finding an online service manual for the FT Ascot except for the Yahoo FT500 users group listed below.

Here is about the best pricing that I've seen on a manual: http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2.asp?Make=AHC&Model=STR+&Year=1982&Category=1&class%5F2=AHC&mk=Honda+Motorcycle&yr=1982&md=On%2DRoad&dt=Shop%2FService+Information&module=&from=result&Style=helm&Sku=61MC801&itemtype=N

Another source of information is the Yahoo FT500 Ascot Owners Group: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/honda-ascot/conversations/messages  I believe that you may need a Yahoo acct. to either view or post on this list. Towards the top of the page you should find a section titled "FILES". There is a lot of good information to be found there: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/honda-ascot/files
Here is a link to the Manual: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/honda-ascot/files/FT500%20Service%20Manual/

Good luck

I have a headlight for sure. I'm in the U.S. but could ship. I'll check on turn signals if your still needing those as well.
