DE-CLANGED EXHAUST
« on: June 17, 2016, 10:57:31 am »
As I'm a cheap old Norwegian I was living w the rattling pipes(a bit of deafness helps). Last week to get away from video games I pulled system off. Yes-both broken nicely at the port but such paper thin stuff!  All I had was my stick welder w 3/32" rod. The thin stuff evaporated when arced but the inner pipe appears to be double layered about 1/2"  at the end. I managed to strike an arc there and let the puddle flow onto the thin section. I cleaned them up w my die grinder and no more rattles. It was horribly embarrassing sitting at stop lights w soccer moms and their broods laughing or open pipe hogly types snickering at my jangling machine. Other than low bars and better suspension my FT is stock(ok rejetted) and will stay that way. It is a joy to putt around the hinterlands on a semi-modern antique getting 60+ mpg. I have my Aprilia to go faster but seldom see 75 on it. With so little power it forces one to enjoy the simple pleasure of just RIDING!
