Oil Pressure Light
« on: June 12, 2016, 12:30:04 pm »
Hello all..
Trying to help a fellow church member get his bike running.

Oil pressure light stays on but bike seems to be pumping oil through, ok.

What could possible reason be for light remaining on?

Thank you

Has the oil & filter been changed? Using an adequate weight of motorcycle oil? Correct filter?

Oil level up to the correct mark on dipstick with dipstick sitting in oil fill port (not screwed in) ?

We are helping a young man get his old bike running. He kind of got taken on the purchase. Soooo many things are either broken or cobbled together and process of elimination is the starting point for much of it.

Bike pumping oil ok, so thought sending unit was funky. Replaced that, but light still on. Have new filter, oil, etc, light still on. Trying the grounds next to see if that might be an issue.  Someone added front turn signals and wired them into the system so that they stay on all the time, so it's possible they spliced into something having to do with the oil light. Still need to tear into it further to find that possibility.

NEED a part, reasonable, if anyone knows where to get one. Rear fender cowl with good tabs, etc. This bike sat outside for so many years that plastic parts are basically dry rotted. Also need coolant overflow tank. Am sure more parts needed to follow.

Thank you
