Can anyone elborate on what kind of finish/paint is on this ? Is it a rudimentary black chrome or just a glossy t high heat enamel? Polishing work ? I was going to do a photo series of me doing some rest on this bike this weekend

Not sure, but I think the original finish is some form of a black chrome.

On my VT250 resto I used hi temp 'heatproof' paint on the head pipes and gloss black two pack on the mufflers. Looks like the original black chrome and so far (1,000+Km) hasn't burnt off.

That looks great! What is gloss back two pack?
Is it this ?

That's not a bad idea and it looks just like it to me. Thanks!

I use the two part paint from an automotive paint supplier and apply with spray gun.
Sand the old chrome to get a good smooth dull finish, clean with prepsol or similar, apply a light etch primer and when dry two coats of the gloss. Leave for a couple of days to dry completely and fit to bike. Go ride.

Thanks, it wasn't when I got it.
18 months and many $$$ later I have a little gem that is not uncomfortable for me at 6', and is a bit rare here in Australia.
