Can anyone elborate on what kind of finish/paint is on this ? Is it a rudimentary black chrome or just a glossy t high heat enamel? Polishing work ? I was going to do a photo series of me doing some rest on this bike this weekend

J6G1Z:
Not sure, but I think the original finish is some form of a black chrome.

On my VT250 resto I used hi temp 'heatproof' paint on the head pipes and gloss black two pack on the mufflers. Looks like the original black chrome and so far (1,000+Km) hasn't burnt off.

hednik4am:
That looks great! What is gloss back two pack?

Is it this ? http://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-2k-aerospray-ceramic-chassis-black-gloss.html?fee=7&fep=26894&SRCCODE=PLA00020&product_id=14145Z&adpos=1o1&creative=83580265620&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=Cj0KEQjwuZvIBRD-8Z6B2M2Sy68BEiQAtjYS3GlICAYM8lFUe2lGwSPVG54V8B0vily7pR3HzwszC3EaAgyV8P8HAQ

That's not a bad idea and it looks just like it to me. Thanks!

murdo:
I use the two part paint from an automotive paint supplier and apply with spray gun.
Sand the old chrome to get a good smooth dull finish, clean with prepsol or similar, apply a light etch primer and when dry two coats of the gloss. Leave for a couple of days to dry completely and fit to bike. Go ride.  :D
