Used an XL600R headlight assembly and modified the brackets so that it bolts right up to the stock Ascot headlight ears. Lowers the headlight almost two inches and covers up the gauges. The turn signals are smaller versions of the stock signals.
I'll neaten up the wiring behind it before final mounting. It will be painted black to match the bodywork with maybe a couple of small grey and white pin stripes in the outline of the existing black area. Grey and white to match the side covers and the wings on the tank.

Rick at Oldskool Carbs did a great job, as usual. Installed these and didn't have to touch them (at least not while running off the I.V. bottle).

Got the fairing and bodywork back from the painter. He buffed out the original paint and color matched the fairing. Looks really nice, I think.
The petcock is leaking behind the selector lever, but only when in ON or RES, not on OFF. It's a riveted type and I don't know if they're rebuildable or not. Also, while the bike ran great on the IV bottle, I think the slow jet in the rear carb is now plugged. Doesn't want to run on that cylinder at idle and there's a big surge of power when I get above the pilot jet circuit. Guess I'll be tearing this thing back down to remove/rebuild/replace the petcock and clean the carbs one more time.....GRRR!

Looking great.
The petcock can be rebuilt if you drill the rivets out and thread the holes with 3mm and put small screws in to hold together.

I just ordered a replacement petcock. I'll loose the vacuum assist, but I don't care. I think I'm going to try replacing the petcock, flushing/rinsing the tank while it's off and running some Seafoam through the carbs. Can't hurt and easier that pulling the carbs again.

Looks good!

That XR headlight surround fits the bike well.

Nice neighborhood.
