Howdy,
The purpose for my build is country back roads, mostly gravel, up hill and down dale, so I'm interested in a post were it was suggested,
an XR500 ( not mentioned which yr ) lower profile oil pan can be bolted straight onto the FT, giving it more ground clearance.
Is this right? I have only found that one post suggesting it.
Any info on the yr or, yay or nay would be appreciated.

Are you going upswept with the exhaust? From what I remember, the header is much lower than the engine.

Sorry Neil, but the answer is nay. The '79-'82 XL/XR 500s did not use an oil pan separate from the lower crankcase half.

Well...I'm thinking about a 2 into one, high right/left side, havent decided yet.
Dont have to deal with a kick start so maybe tight on the right side?

The combination of that post & this item ( which didnt look too different to the depth of an FT O/P) only was.. legendary..
I picked up an XR bash plate for only $3, so I guess I'll fit an extra shroud of some sort to protect the pan;
