Title: Half way there...
Post by: Blueb3 on March 05, 2016, 07:40:23 pm
Bought my ascot after it had been sitting for almost 3 years. I knocked the carb all the way down and replaced the seals on the float bowl. I finally got it started today!

However, there's a bit of black smoke in the exhaust, and it won't idle. If I pull the throttle back just a hair it will idle roughly, but as soon as I let it go, it dies. No difference between having the choke cable pulled or not.

Any ideas?

Ok, turns out that I can get it to idle by closing the idle screw almost all the way, and backing it off about 1/2 a turn. Still runs a bit rough, and has random surging. I'm thinking a seafoam treatment might help.
