Title: Front turn signal wiring
Post by: Wes Kootenay on April 01, 2018, 12:41:49 pm
Finally found a replacement instrument cluster, so I have removed the 750/4 speedo/tach. This prompted me to clean up the 'rats nest' wiring some previous owner did. Now to the point of this post:
The hi-res wiring diagram for the 1984 VT500FT is not the same wiring color as my 1983, so I'm not sure how to re-connect the front turn signals. Mine have two wires, one grey and one black/yellow (maybe aftermarket?) anybody know what colors they connect to? I suppose I can just turn on the signals and see which connector has flashing power. I'm guessing the heavy black line is a ground through the mounting bolt?

Fronts should be '3 wire' as they are running lights as well as turn signals.

Thank you, that makes sense. I guess mine are 'aftermarket' - (single filament bulb), I'll figure it out.

All good now. Miraculously, everything works  :)
