thoughts on tires ?
« on: February 23, 2015, 07:28:29 pm »
I'm sure this has been asked/reviewed numerous times, just ordered some thing's today off Dennis Kirk. Picked up some Bridgestone spit fire tires today, the reviews looked good and rated way over how fast I'll be going and the price was more then good enough. A little over 80 $ for each tire and i orded new springs for the forks aswell. Has anyone ever used these tires? If so what did you think and if not, why not ?.

You guys are very informative so any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

I thought there were a few posts on tires. Here's a couple:

I'm not familiar with the SpitFire tire. The picture looks like it has a decent tread pattern. The thing that concerns me, is that the tire is considered a Sport/Touring type of tire. Usually that means the rubber is harder for longer tread life. I like a sticky tire & use the Avon RoadRiders on my FT Ascot. I had some Bridgestone BT-45 BattleAxe tires on my VT Ascot & they handled well also. The BT-45 has been the go-to tire for vintage bikes for quite a while. If your bike still has the original tires, or Cheng-Shin type of replacement tires, you will most likely be pleased with the new tires. Pretty much anything is an improvement over the originals.

Good luck & please let us know how it goes.
