Starter issues...

Just bought a new battery (tried to ride the other day and it read .5 volts...). Also bought and replaced the starter relay solenoid.

I have since read that if you don't swap some wires on the plug going into the solenoid, you'll fry the SCU... I think I did that. Can I just bypass it? My old 70's Honda's work well without one....

For a while before the battery kicked it, you would have to hit the starter a handful of times. It wouldn't engage all the time. I'm sure that killed the battery. I read up and was hoping a new battery/solenoid would help that since people said if there wasn't enough power, the starter won't grab.

So what is happening here now (in the video). I think we killed the new battery trying to start it at first after it had been sitting. It's on the slow charger now.

Battery sounds weak.

The specs look like the battery was undersized to begin with. There is information on this site for the correct sized battery. The specs will also be listed in your Honda Service Manual.

Good to know! The fitment part on Amazon said it would work, but I guess I can't trust that now.

Do you have a battery recommendation?

I also just put the battery back in (it was reading 12.06v on the charger). When I went to start it, it would drop down to like 6v a few times. Then I went to put it back on the charger (out of the bike) and it read something like 11.5v. I'm rather confused on all these readings...
