CDI check
« on: May 23, 2017, 07:01:33 pm »
Thanks to all the info already posted on the forum I am part way to solving some electrical issues i've had on my 1983 FT500 but can someone please verify the positions of each wire on the CDI?

I've downloaded the original schematic and I do understand where each wire comes from on the bike and what they do, but its just not clear where in reality, which wire goes where / in which order, on the CDI.

Also the unit I have (with Shindengen manufacturers sticker on the side), has a faded printed mark on the back of CF423 281 - the last off-set number seems to be different on others I've found online. And some don't even seem to have the main number of 423. Can any other CDI from other single cylinder jap bikes be used?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge
