WTB rear brake master cylinder - NOT a duplicate post
patrino:
New forum member, picked up an FT500 last month, eager to get it on the road.
Bike did not have a rear master cylinder with it. If you have one you're willing to sell, please let me know. I know greenjeans is looking too.
Thanks, Patrick

To unstick a badly stuck caliper piston: A friend of mine turned me onto the grease gun trick for removing stuck caliper/master cylinder pistons--works awesome. You really don't need an adaptor to make it work. Just unscrew the end from the grease gun and carefully thread the grease gun into the caliper/master cylinder. You'll only be able to get a couple of threads started, but that is enough. Several pumps of the grease gun and the stuck piston's out!!

You can also add the 1987 to 1990 Honda CBR600 rear caliper to the list of rear calipers that will fit the FT500 Ascots.

Sorry about that. I seem to have missed the "master cylinder" part. Usually there is a problem with the caliper.
There are rebuild kits available. You will have to search the I'net for a supplier. I think K&L offers some.
If you can locate a master cylinder with the same mounting holes & bore diameter, that should work. Look at the early Honda CBR 600 Hurricane parts.
Here is a picture of a Brembo master cylinder that someone from the Yahoo group adapted to work.

Thank you!
Getting close to taking it around the block for the first time.
With the help of some parts from Vicious Cycle here in Portland I was able to get a starter motor on her, and fired it up for the first time a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping she'll be rideable within a couple weeks. Want to make sure all the gears are there, etc. (I bought the bike as an unfinished project.)
